Internationally renowned pianist — Yefim "Fima" Bronfman — will bring beautiful music to Grand Central Terminal when he makes a special musical appearance seated at a 9-ft. Steinway Concert Grand piano in Vanderbilt Hall, 42nd Street & Park Avenue, on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 8 am. Fima's appearance will kick off a first-of-its-kind, 10-day online charity auction — FimaForFoodBank.com — for which he will be the focus of the bidding! The high bidder will win an in-home concert by this piano master, whose talents have graced nearly every great concert venue the world over, plus the use of a Steinway 7-Ft. Music Room Grand piano with a Player Disc mechanism (hand delivered by Steinway) for six months!
The auction will benefit the Food Bank For New York City, and is part of their NYC Goes Orange campaign — Orange is the color of hunger awareness — which raises awareness and funds for the more than one million New Yorkers who depend on emergency food programs to put food on the table. The Food Bank is the major provider of food to more than 1,000 emergency and community food programs throughout the five boroughs.
