Support the Food Bank For New York City's Third Annual CANS Film Festival

New York, NY (April 22, 2005) — Join actor Michael Imperioli ("The Soprano's," "Law and Order") as he helps the Food Bank For New York City kick-off its third annual CANS Film Festival! CANS is a series of film-related events scheduled to run all throughout the month of May throughout New York City. The CANS Film Festival provides New Yorkers the opportunity to give back to their communities by showing their support at special film-oriented events, select video retailers, and also by logging onto the Food Bank's Virtual Food Drive.

"Dinner and a Movie" at Suba on Tuesday, May 17, 2005: Invite friends for a three course dinner and a movie at Yann De Rochefort's Suba restaurant, a contemporary Latin restaurant and lounge on the Lower East Side, rated by Time Out New York as one of New York City's Top 100 Restaurants. THINKfilm will present a screening of Matt Mahurin's West Village restaurant documentary, "I Like Killing Flies". Time: 7–10pm.

"Sugar Extravaganza" at Sugar Lounge on Wednesday, May 18, 2005: An evening at Sugar lounge with open bar, hors d'oeuvres and DJ/VJ Sputnik. A raffle will be held for a chance to win many exciting prizes, including a one year membership to Film Forum. Time: 7–10pm; open bar from 7–9pm.

"Breakfast at Tiffany's" on Sunday, May 22, 2005: Sunday champagne brunch followed by a showing of the evergreen favorite at the Tribeca Film Center. Includes brunch, open bar, movie screening and gourmet goodie bag. Time: 12–4pm.

In kicking-off CANS, actor Michael Imperioli is currently being featured in a series of public service announcements now airing citywide on various channels — including MTV, VH1, Bravo and TBS. You can also catch Michael Imperioli on the "big screen" as well — since these vignettes are now being shown at Clearview Cinemas throughout the five boroughs. Even "Mr. Moviefone" is involved! Everyone who calls in for the latest movie information will hear "Mr. Moviefone" talk about the Food Bank's CANS Film Festival and on how they can participate. Jet Blue Airways is also taking part: twenty (20) free roundtrip tickets have been donated to the Food Bank. By logging onto, people can enter for a chance to win!
