New Yorkers Dine Out at their Favorite Restaurants to Help End Hunger
New York, NY—New Yorkers will have the chance to raise money for hunger relief while indulging at the some of the city’s hottest restaurants on Sunday, March 30th during the eleventh annual Time Out For Hunger campaign. Time Out New York and Food Bank For New York City launched the campaign in 2004 as a way to help combat hunger in New York City while encouraging New Yorkers to simply do what most love to do best: dine at their favorite restaurants.
More than 60 participating restaurants throughout the five boroughs will donate 10% of the day’s proceeds to Food Bank to help end hunger New York City. Every dollar raised will help provide 5 meals for New Yorkers in need.
More than 2.6 million New Yorkers are struggling to put food on the table, and 1 in 5 New York City residents relies on Food Bank For New York City’s programs and services. As the city’s hub for integrated food poverty assistance, Food Bank tackles the hunger issue on three fronts — food distribution, income support and nutrition education — all strategically guided by its research. Through its network of approximately 1,000 community-based member programs and schools citywide, the Food Bank helps provide 400,000 free meals a day for New Yorkers in need.
