9/11 Day of Service: Volunteers Pack 2 Million Meals at the Intrepid Museum
NEW YORK (CBS News) – In a powerful display of unity and service, 6,000 volunteers are coming together to pack two million meals for hungry New Yorkers over the next two days. This massive effort, split between City Harvest and Food Bank For New York City, commemorates the selfless acts that took place 23 years ago on September 11. Volunteers at the Intrepid Museum joined the mission on Wednesday, dedicating their time to help combat food insecurity.
Janis Robinson of Food Bank For New York City shared, “At least one in three families is facing food insecurity, and to see this many people come out is really, really a beautiful thing.” Read more about this incredible effort and the impact volunteers are making on CBS News.
