Food Bank For NYC CEO Leslie Gordon Discusses Child Summer Hunger with News 12 Bronx

NEW YORK (Bronx.News12.com) – Leslie Gordon, President and CEO of Food Bank For New York City, recently spoke with News 12 Bronx about the pressing issue of childhood food insecurity in the summer.

Many families rely on schools to provide meals for their children, but what happens when school is out for summer? In NYC alone, 416,000 kids face uncertainty about where their next meal will come from.

Food Bank For NYC is determined to address this challenge by offering summer meal programs and school pantries with fresh food to help keep children fed during the tough summer months. In addition to partnering with and distributing food to over 800 community organizations across the five boroughs, our Community Kitchen and Pantry in West Harlem provides hot meals and monthly groceries.

But Food Bank For NYC goes beyond providing fresh free food. We also offer nutrition education and SNAP assistance to ensure a food secure tomorrow for New York City families.
