On June 22nd, Food Bank For New York City held a luncheon to recognize its food donors and honor two key partners, Robert Weinmann and Josephine Infante.
The luncheon was hosted at our Warehouse and Distribution Center in Hunts Point, where guests were able to witness our warehouse team hard at work as they arrived. Attendees first heard from Sultana Ocasio, Executive Director of the Muslim Women’s Institute for Research and Development, who shared the importance of their support to the clients served by their donations.
After breaking for a delicious buffet meal prepared by the culinary team from our 116th Street Community Kitchen, Robert Weinmann, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Strategic Initiatives, RDD Associates, and former Food Bank Board Treasurer, was honored for his work to mobilize his colleagues within the food industry to fight hunger. Josephine Infante, Former President, Hunts Point Economic Development Corporation, was honored for her leadership and tireless efforts to usher in an era of economic growth and opportunity for the Hunts Point community.
The afternoon culminated with the launch of Food Bank’s Million Meals Club, an elite group of food donors who have donated enough pounds of food to equal one million or more meals for New Yorkers in need. This inaugural group includes Krasdale Foods Inc., Farm Fresh, HP – Hood , Frank Brunckhorst Co. Boar’s Head, Target, Baldor Specialty Foods, Fresh Direct, ShopRite, Duane Reade, Katzman Produce, and E. Armata. Banners for each of these companies were unveiled and will be permanently displayed at the Warehouse.
