January 11, 2016 – Wives and girlfriends of NHL rivals the New York Rangers and New York Islanders faced off today for a friendly food-repacking competition at Food Bank For New York City’s Bronx Warehouse.
The Henrik Lundqvist Foundation, a children’s health and education organization founded by New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist and his wife Therese, joined forces with the New York Rangers’ newly relocated hockey rival, the New York Islanders, to support HLF community partner Food Bank For New York City. The event served as the introduction for the New York Islanders Children’s Foundation.
The Rangers’ wives and girlfriends bested the Islanders’, 2100 meals to 1800, but most importantly, all the food will be distributed to soup kitchens and pantries citywide. Thank you!
