“My time with Food Bank has shown me more and more that hunger is a woman’s issue. I’m committed to understanding and sharing the stories of the countless women and children making up our city’s most vulnerable.” —Katie Lee
Food Bank For New York City is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Lee, celebrity chef and author, to its Board of Directors. As the host of Beach Bites on Cooking Channel and co-host of The Kitchen and The Kitchen Sink on Food Network, this newest title is an expansion of Katie’s role with Food Bank. Since 2014, she has served on the organization’s Culinary Council, a group chaired by Food Bank Board member Mario Batali.
“Our board of directors is comprised of dedicated New Yorkers who invest time, resources and leadership into strengthening the organization’s sustainability and impact. I am pleased to not only welcome Katie to this group but excited to see the special brand of awareness building that I know she will bring to our mission’s reach,” said Margarette Purvis, Food Bank’s President and CEO.
Made up of individuals from the finance, legal, faith, culinary and business communities, Food Bank’s board shares a common belief that hunger is solvable. According to the board’s chair, Rev. Henry Belin, “Katie’s appointment was based on the authenticity and freshness we all saw in her. There is a long road facing our mission and we believe that she’s the right addition for these times.”
