April 4, 2016 – April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and Food Bank For New York City’s volunteers have helped us hit some amazing milestones this year.
Volunteers play a critical role in our fight against hunger, making operations possible at our Food Distribution Warehouse. Since January, 250 tax volunteers have been working diligently to provide eligible New Yorkers free tax refunds.
New Yorkers have also been rolling up their sleeves at our Community Kitchen & Pantry in West Harlem and high-need public schools citywide, putting food directly into the hands of those in need. Through their hard work, our volunteers have been able to put 2,000,000+ meals back into the community.
We’ll be shouting out #VolunteerAppreciationMonth on social, so make sure you’re following us so you can join us in celebrating all of our amazing volunteers!
