East Rutherford, NJ, – Stop & Shop and the New York Giants are teaming up to help Food Bank For New York City, the city’s largest hunger-relief organization, fight hunger across the five boroughs this holiday season.

From December 3rd-23rd, fans can shop online at StopandShop.com for pickup or delivery and add a donation of $1, $3, $5, $10 or $20 to their cart at checkout. All donations will benefit Food Bank For New York City. A QR code will also be available to fans who wish to donate. The QR code can be found on Giants.com. Since 1997, the New York Giants have supported an annual food drive to help feed thousands of hungry New Yorkers during the holidays.

“Stop & Shop is grateful for the support of the New York Giants as we work to support Food Bank for New York City in the fight against hunger,” said Jennifer Brogan, Director of Community Relations for Stop & Shop. “We hope this year’s virtual food drive exceeds last year’s total of $8,320.”

To help kickoff the food drive, Giants safety Xavier McKinney will be available during the team’s media availability on Friday, December 3, 2021. McKinney will discuss the Giants’ participation in the drive and his role in the campaign to end hunger. When the Giants host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, December 19, the food drive’s QR code will be displayed on pylon signage and video boards around the stadium as a call to action for all fans in attendance.

“Giants fans have always appreciated the opportunity to join us in supporting our neighbors in need through the Food Bank For New York City during the holiday season,” said Allison Stangeby, Vice President of Community and Corporate Relations of the New York Giants. “We are so excited to team up with our generous partner, Stop & Shop, for another season of giving to help feed thousands of New Yorkers, both young and old.”

“It’s an honor to partner again with our friends at Stop & Shop and the New York Giants this holiday season,” said Food Bank President & CEO Leslie Gordon. “We’re humbled by our community’s widespread commitment to supply our neighbors with nutritious food to help make the final weeks of 2021 and the holidays extra special. By working with our donors, corporate partners, and many other supporters, we’ve served an estimated 1.6 million New Yorkers currently facing food insecurity. Let’s continue the fight against food insecurity so no New Yorker has to worry about where to get their next meal.”

About Food Bank For New York City

Food Bank For New York City is the largest hunger relief organization of the city fighting food insecurity on the ground since 1983. By partnering with over 800 soup kitchens, food pantries, and campus partners across the five boroughs, Food Bank is able to make a direct impact in the communities that need it most, providing some 1.4 billion meals to New Yorkers since its founding. But food alone can’t solve hunger. That’s why Food Bank employs a two-prong approach of Community Nourishment programming (to provide immediate and reliable access to food today) with Economic Empowerment programming (to equip people with the tools they need to achieve food security into tomorrow and beyond). All of these services – from grab-and-go pantry bags to hot meals, tax filing assistance, SNAP enrollment, nutrition education, and financial empowerment workshops – are free and available to anyone who needs them. To learn more about Food Bank’s mission to dignify, nourish, and empower ALL New Yorkers facing food insecurity, visit foodbanknyc.org.
