Join Food Bank For New York City in calling your NYS Assembly Member to support HPNAP and Nourish NY in the Next State Budget by signing onto a “Dear Colleague” letter of support! The Governor’s executive budget was released last week and included less funding for food assistance than in the current year. We need your voice to ensure our hunger relief is supported and your representatives need to hear from YOU!

MAKE THE CALL – Here’s what you can say:
“Hello, my name is ____(name) and I’m calling from ____(organization) in your district. Our organization directly supports hungry New Yorkers in ___(city/neighborhood) by providing food for families in need.
HPNAP and Nourish NY are important because…[EXAMPLE: Last year, we saw a substantial increase in need at our food program. And looking ahead, SNAP participants in our community will be hit hard with a drop in benefits. The expiration of SNAP Emergency Allotments next month will result in an average loss of $87/month per person. New Yorkers are being squeezed by high inflation and the expiration of pandemic-era relief measures – hunger relief programs like mine need additional investment, not less.]
I am asking my Assemblymember to commit to signing the “Dear Colleague” letter being circulated by Assemblymembers Catalina Cruz and Dan Rosenthal to support fully funding the Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) at $63M and Nourish New York at $75M.
