September 30, 2016 – As the presenting sponsor of September’s Go Orange to End Hunger™ campaign, Barilla Americas Inc. contributed the equivalent of 500,000 meals to Food Bank For New York City. Barilla also hosted two weeks of special events that rallied over 80,000 New Yorkers city-wide to fight hunger. With Barilla’s generous partnership, Food Bank was able to feed New Yorkers in need, while inspiring those who are needed to volunteer, donate, and advocate.
From September 6-9, Barilla traveled the five boroughs to provide 500 nutritious meals each day to Food Bank member agencies as part of their second annual “Barilla Shares the Table with New York City.” 2,000 clients in high-need communities enjoyed Barilla Protein PLUS Penne with Barilla Marinara Sauce and parmesan cheese, mixed green salad, and fruit salad.
The following week, from September 12-16, Barilla encouraged New Yorkers to “Go Orange With Barilla,” rallying the public to get involved and support the one in five New Yorkers who rely on Food Bank programs and services. Touring a different borough stop each day, Barilla gave away 20,000 “Recipe for Wonderful” dinner kits throughout the week while encouraging New Yorkers to join us in fighting hunger. With each dinner kit feeding a family of four, 80,000 New Yorkers were able to enjoy a meal courtesy of Barilla and Food Bank, while learning how they can get involved.
Food Bank For New York City would like to thank Barilla for its participation in Go Orange and its continued support fighting hunger in our city!
